On July 10, at the 31st session of the 18th term Nghe An Provincial People's Council, voters raised questions related to the province's administrative reform indicators, the phenomenon of harassment of cadres in performing public duties, people and businesses still have to pay unofficial expenses and disciplinary action against cadres who violate the law in Nghe An province.
Responding at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Director of Nghe An Department of Home Affairs - said that in 2024, the province had 132 civil servants and 114 public employees disciplined in many different forms. In particular, a number of civil servants in Cua Lo town, Quy Hop district were arrested, causing Nghe An to have 1.5 points deducted from the administrative reform assessment.
Mr. Hung admitted that although most of the civil servants and public employees perform their duties well, there is still a group of people who commit harassment and violate the law. These violations contribute to Nghe An's PCI component indexes being underestimated, such as: transparency in ranking 59/63 provinces and cities; unofficial costs ranked 50/63; time costs ranked 59/63.
However, according to Mr. Hung, a positive point is that the superiors do not cover up the violations of the subordinates, many cadres are transferred to work positions when receiving negative feedback from people and businesses.
