On the morning of October 1, the leader of Tan Ky Commune People's Committee said that on the night of September 30 and early morning of October 1, the authorities and relief organizations worked through the night to support people to move to safety.

"For decades, Tan Ky has had to face a historic flood like this. The water rose too quickly, people could not react in time, only worried about running away, and their assets were left in trust for the floodwaters" - Mr. Le Viet Quy, Vice Chairman of Tan Ky Commune People's Committee shared.
According to initial statistics, the whole Tan Ky commune had thousands of households flooded, hundreds of households had water rising to the roofs, many had to remove their roofs to climb up to wait for rescue.

"More than a month ago, people were flooded, now it is even worse. For the past 20 years, there has not been a flood like this, people are exhausted" - Ms. Tran Thi Be Hoang, a local resident, said.
Not only Tan Ky, in Anh Son commune, hundreds of houses have been submerged since September 29. In Quy Chau, Que Phong - the mountainous area west of Nghe An - there are also hundreds of households in a similar situation. In Truong Vinh ward (old Hung Hoa commune) and communes outside the Lam river dike, rising flood waters have isolated many residential areas.

In the face of the emergency situation, Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee directed rescue forces to make efforts to rescue, prioritizing the safety of people's lives. He requested localities to mobilize maximum police, military, militia forces, motor vehicles, boats, canoes, etc. to provide relief, urgently evacuate people from dangerous areas; and at the same time prepare enough food, medicine, and necessities to ensure security for people in the coming days.
Tens of thousands of commune cadres, police and soldiers have been wading through floodwaters to bring people and property to safety, implementing the "4 on-site" motto to minimize damage to the lowest level.
