Bright spot in attracting investment
According to Nghe An Statistics Office, in 2024, GRDP at current prices is estimated to reach more than VND 216,943 billion, up 9.01% over 2023 - the highest increase in the past four years and higher than the national average (7.09%). In the period of 2021-2024, the economic growth rate of the province will be 6.13% in 2021, 8.78% in 2022, 7.14% in 2023 and 9.01% in 2024, respectively, reaching an average of about 7.7%/year.

Despite solid progress, the growth rate has not yet exceeded the 10%/year threshold, showing that the target of achieving an average of 12% in the coming period is a big challenge, requiring a synchronous change in economic structure, infrastructure, institutions and resources.
Currently, the scale of Nghe An's economy ranks 10th in the country, the GRDP structure has shifted in a positive direction when the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounts for 21.52%, industry 31.25% and services 43.69%. With a population of more than 3.56 million people, the average GRDP per capita is nearly 61 million VND, equivalent to about 2,400 USD/person. These results create an important foundation for the province to continue expanding its scale, improving growth quality and improving people's lives.
In recent years, Nghe An has been one of the bright spots in attracting investment in the North Central region. In the 2021-2024 period, the whole province has attracted more than 320 new investment projects, with a total registered capital of over VND 160,000 billion, including many large-scale industrial parks of domestic and foreign corporations such as VSIP, WHA, Hoang Mai... This is the foundation for Nghe An to break through, promote economic restructuring towards industry - services, create more jobs, increase budget revenue and affirm the role of the economic locomotive of the North Central region.
Breakthrough to achieve double-digit growth target
According to Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh, the target of GRDP growth of over 12%/year in the new term is not easy. However, this is a goal that demonstrates strong development aspirations, a driving force for the entire political system to participate. To realize it, the province has identified three strategic breakthroughs including: institutional breakthrough, infrastructure breakthrough and human resource breakthrough.
Accordingly, Nghe An will continue to improve development mechanisms and policies, promote decentralization, build a modern digital government and strongly improve the investment and business environment. The province prioritizes investment in strategic transport infrastructure projects such as Vinh - Thanh Thuy Expressway, coastal roads, Cua Lo deep-water port, expansion of Vinh International Airport, development of transport routes connecting regions, infrastructure of industrial parks, and Southeast Economic Zone to create momentum for processing and manufacturing industry.
Along with that, Nghe An focuses on training high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of high-tech industry, information technology, logistics, tourism and health - education services, considering this a key factor to increase labor productivity.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh affirmed: "The growth target of over 12%/year is a big challenge, but Nghe An will strive, synchronously deploy policies and solutions, mobilize maximum social resources to turn aspirations into reality, making Nghe An a national growth zone, successfully completing the goals set by the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress".
