On the morning of October 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Da Do canal dredging project (from Nguyen Hoang Street to Saigon River), in An Khanh Ward and Binh Trung Ward. This is a key project to celebrate the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
The project has a total investment of more than 86.7 billion VND from the city budget, aiming to thoroughly solve the flooding problem, improve the drainage system, and improve the landscape and quality of technical infrastructure in the area.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Project Management Board, the project has a total dredging length of 1,760m, with a bottom width of 15 to 22.5m, and an average depth of about 1m. At the same time, the project will build 1,570m of embankment on both banks, install a D1200mm and D100mm underground sewer system, and a reinforced concrete drainage system along the route.

We have identified this as a project of special significance to welcome the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, so we have proactively coordinated with relevant departments and branches, completed legal procedures and selected contractors in accordance with regulations to promptly implement the construction, said Mr. Dung.

Along with enhancing drainage capacity, the Da Do canal dredging project also includes auxiliary items such as building a walking path along the canal, planting trees, installing a new public lighting system and renovating urban landscape. All are aimed at building the An Khanh - Binh Trung area into a green, clean and sustainable living space.
For many years, Da Do canal has been a hot spot for serious pollution and flooding, directly affecting the lives of hundreds of households along the canal.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026, contributing significantly to removing the "bottleneck" of drainage infrastructure, while creating a new landscape highlight for the East of Ho Chi Minh City, a region that is developing strongly with a series of large-scale traffic and urban works.
