On June 10, according to information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province, implementing the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", the Provincial People's Committee directed the Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to deploy the collection of biological samples of martyrs' remains that have not been identified for DNA testing.
Accordingly, Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province has taken biological samples from 72 unidentified martyrs' graves buried at Nghi Loc Martyrs' Cemetery, Dong Loc commune, Nghe An province.

The sampling at Nghi Loc Martyrs' Cemetery was carried out in 2 days, May 12 and 13, with the participation of functional forces, local authorities and specialized units. Before deployment, delegates offered incense and commemorated the heroic martyrs who are resting at the cemetery.
Currently, biological samples have been handed over to serve DNA testing. Functional agencies are in the process of waiting for test results to compare and identify martyrs' remains.

In addition to 72 biological samples taken at Nghi Loc Martyrs' Cemetery, Steering Committee 515 of Nghe An province will continue to take more than 2,460 biological samples from unidentified martyrs' graves buried at martyrs' cemeteries throughout the province.
Thus, the total number of biological samples of unidentified martyrs' remains expected to be taken in Nghe An is more than 2,532 samples.
The collection of biological samples is to serve DNA testing, step by step identifying martyrs, meeting the aspirations of relatives and families of martyrs; and at the same time expressing responsibility and gratitude to those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Previously, the Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains of Military Region 4 inspected the preparation for taking samples, handing over martyrs' remains and organizing a conference to draw experience in taking samples of martyrs' remains in Nghe An.
Through actual inspection at Nghi Loc Martyrs' Cemetery, leaders of the 515 Steering Committee of Military Region 4 highly appreciated the preparation work of the 515 Steering Committee of Nghe An province; and at the same time requested relevant agencies and units to continue to closely coordinate, ensuring that sample taking is carried out in accordance with procedures and achieves high efficiency.
In the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", in addition to taking biological samples, the National Steering Committee 515 also set a goal to build, complete and put into operation a gene database of relatives of martyrs whose information has not been identified.
This database will serve the work of comparing and identifying martyrs' remains, contributing to bringing the names of martyrs back to their families and homeland after many years of not being able to identify information.
