On May 7, the Nghe An Provincial Special Working Committee held a conference to assign tasks and coordinate the organization of a memorial service and burial of the remains of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who died in Laos to be gathered for the 2024-2025 dry season.
According to the report, up to now, the Gathering Team of the Military Command of Nghe An province has searched and collected 73 martyrs' remains in 3 provinces of Laos, including: 63 remains in Xieng Khoang, 8 remains at Xay som Bun and 2 in Vientiane.

To prepare for the memorial service and burial ceremony scheduled to take place on May 20 at Nghi Loc District Martyrs' Cemetery, Nghe An Provincial Military Command has proactively coordinated with departments, branches and localities to deploy a plan to receive, move, and organize a thoughtful and solemn burial. The province also held talks and evaluated the results of the search and collection of martyrs' remains in the 2024 - 2025 dry season and prepared for the next dry season.
Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Nghe An Provincial Special Working Committee, requested relevant units to continue to do a good job of preparation, especially closely coordinating with localities in Laos to ensure the organization of the reception, handover, memorial and burial ceremony on schedule, deeply demonstrating the nation's "When drinking water, remember its source".
Since 1984, Nghe An has collected more than 13,200 remains of volunteer martyrs and Vietnamese experts who sacrificed in Laos, of which more than 12,700 remains were found in the three provinces of Xieng Khoang, Vientiane and Xay som Bun.
