On August 15, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of an environmental company in Quang Tri said that the garbage collection price applied from the time of the old Quang Binh province (now Quang Tri) has remained unchanged since 2018.
The representative of this company said that depending on each location, the fee is different but in general is low, especially in the northern part of the province, which is still applied according to the old decision, no longer suitable for actual costs, causing pressure on service providers.
Faced with this situation, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri, Tran Quoc Tuan, said that the development and issuance of prices for domestic waste collection, transportation and treatment services is a prolonged process due to many procedures, especially the stage of guiding pricing methods and technical norms.
Mr. Tuan informed that the Department of Finance had previously presided over the development of a new price plan and consulted with the relevant agencies, but the Provincial People's Committee had not issued it due to the lack of guidance documents from the central ministries and branches.
"It was not until the end of December 2024 that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued a circular regulating economic and technical norms. From there, we have a basis to continue doing things" - Mr. Tuan said.
According to the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, after receiving the dossier from the Department of Finance, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has started reviewing and comparing with new instructions to develop a suitable price plan.
The price adjustment will be based on the volume or volume of waste after classification, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection and the Law on Prices. The goal is to provide a price that is both affordable and affordable for the collection unit to accept. The Department will submit to the Provincial People's Committee as soon as it is completed, expected in the near future.
