On January 20, Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) instructed passengers on how to buy tickets and register for monthly tickets for Metro Line No. 1.
One-way fares are calculated based on the distance traveled. If paid in cash, fares range from 7,000 to 20,000 VND/trip.
Passengers using cashless payment methods will receive preferential treatment, with slightly reduced prices, from only 6,000 to 19,000 VND/trip.
In addition to single-pass tickets, Metro Line 1 also offers monthly tickets priced at VND300,000 for regular passengers and VND150,000 exclusively for students.
Passengers who need to use the service for a short period of time can choose an unlimited-trip ticket, priced at VND40,000/day or VND90,000/three days.
Some groups of people who are exempt from ticket fees include: people with revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, the elderly and children under 6 years old.
For cashless payment tickets, passengers can choose from a variety of modern payment methods:
- Scanning bank payment cards: From January 21, passengers using contactless Mastercard cards can scan directly at the EMV card reader at the ticket gate. Napas cards are expected to be accepted from January 24. Visa, JCB, Amex and UPI cards will be integrated soon.
- HCMC Metro app: Passengers can download the app, choose their route, pay online and receive a QR code. This code will be scanned at the ticket gate to enter the station.
- E-wallet: MoMo wallet is expected to be integrated from January 24, allowing QR code scanning directly at the ticket gate. Other e-wallets will be updated after completing the technical connection.
- At the ticket counter: Passengers pay cashlessly via POS machine or transfer money at the ticket counter, then receive a train ticket in the form of a QR code to scan at the ticket gate.
For single-trip tickets paid in cash, passengers can purchase tickets directly at the ticket counter. After payment, passengers will receive a QR code ticket to scan at the ticket gate.
For daily and monthly tickets, passengers can buy daily or monthly tickets through the HCMC Metro app. After payment, a QR code will be sent to the passenger's account, used to scan the code at the ticket gate.
In particular, from February 15, 2025, monthly tickets will be linked to citizen identification cards. Passengers only need to scan their ID cards at the card reader to move, making ticket use more convenient.
Put into operation since December 22, 2024, Metro Line 1 has made 5,808 trips and served more than 2.7 million passengers. This result exceeded the original plan by 247.6%.
