Causing serious pollution
According to people in Phu Duc commune, Hung Yen province, garbage burning often occurs in the evening, in the garbage dump area of Vinh Hai commune, Hai Phong city. Smoke from the garbage dump area spreads around, causing unpleasant odors and affecting households living near the old To Trang village (now Dam Trang village) of Phu Duc commune.
Every time the landfill burns, the pungent smoke of all kinds of waste flies into the residential area. On some days, the fire flares up, forming a column of black smoke. People said that they have to close their houses to limit odors and smoke from flying in.
After receiving feedback from people in Phu Duc commune, reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper were present and recorded the reality at the landfill area of An Lac village, Vinh Hai commune. The landfill that people reflected was located adjacent to the Hoa River but was not covered or treated. Waste of all kinds gathered along the dyke road.
Many piles of garbage have been burned, leaving patches of burnt black ash lying scattered.
Authorities intervene after reflection
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of Phu Duc Commune People's Committee, Hung Yen province confirmed that the people's reflection is correct. Previously, the local government also had a document sent to Vinh Hai Commune People's Committee on coordinating to handle the situation of burning waste causing environmental pollution in the border area.
The document of Phu Duc Commune People's Committee stated that through grasping the situation and people's reflections, in the landfill area of An Lac village, Vinh Hai commune, Hai Phong city, there is a situation of burning domestic waste, outdoor waste, generating smoke and a pungent smell. Due to wind, the fire broke out strongly, smoke and dust spread to the residential area of Dam Trang village, Phu Duc commune, Hung Yen province, causing air pollution, affecting the environment, life and health of people in the border area; if not rectified and handled promptly, it will continue to cause public outrage.
To promptly overcome the above situation and ensure the living environment of people in the border area, Phu Duc Commune People's Committee requests Vinh Hai Commune People's Committee to pay attention, coordinate, and direct the Commune Police and relevant professional departments to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people in the area not to burn garbage and waste outdoors causing environmental pollution; to carry out the classification, collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste in accordance with regulations. At the same time, direct functional forces to strengthen inspections, promptly detect, remind and handle cases of burning garbage and waste in the border area between the two communes according to their authority.
In addition, coordinate with Phu Duc Commune People's Committee and Commune Police in patrolling, inspecting, and exchanging information to thoroughly handle the above situation.
Leaders of Vinh Hai Commune People's Committee said: "As soon as they received information from the people, the local government thoroughly handled the garbage burning situation. The landfill was burned because it was burned secretly, the local government does not allow treatment by that method. In the coming time, the locality will have a direction to handle and clean up the landfill area.
