On the afternoon of October 16, information from the People's Committee of Gia Phu commune, at about 10:20 a.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chi (born in 1992, residing in village 10, Tang Loong commune) went to Mr. Nguyen Van Thi's house in Thai Bo village to buy areca.
During the process of cutting the areca nut room, Mr. Chi used a metal sao, unfortunately touching the 35kV power line running above, resulting in being electrocuted and dying on the spot.
Immediately after the incident, the authorities of Gia Phu commune were present at the scene, coordinating with specialized agencies to conduct an examination and handle according to regulations.
The local government said that this is a particularly dangerous household electrical accident, often occurring in rural residential areas where medium-voltage power lines run near crop areas and houses.
Gia Phu Commune People's Committee recommends that people absolutely do not use metal tools when working near power lines; at the same time, proactively observe and ensure a safe distance during work and production to avoid similar unfortunate incidents.
