Man electrocuted to death while doing irrigation work

Lao Cai - A person in Nan Sin commune, Simacai district was electrocuted to death while constructing an irrigation project.

On the evening of November 5, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nan Sin commune confirmed information about the electrocution incident that caused one death in the commune during the construction of an irrigation project.

Initial information, at around 7:30 am on November 5, Mr. L.C.T operated a winch to transport construction materials for an irrigation project in Lung San village. While operating the winch system, a cable roll was stretched from above near the road down to the construction site in the valley of the hill.

When the cable was stretched for transportation, it violated the safety distance with the 35kV power line at about column 9-10, Lung San branch, Highway 376 E20.1.

The location of electric poles 9-10 has full safety warning signs, pole number, line name, phase-to-ground distance from the lowest point of the wire to the ground at the time of the accident is 22.03m, ensuring the safe distance according to regulations.

“Initial determination is that the victim was operating a winch to construct an irrigation project in Lung San village and was electrocuted to death. The victim’s body has been handed over to his family for funeral arrangements,” added the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nan Sin commune.

Currently, Lao Cai provincial authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.
