On October 1, sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Kieu (born in 1971, in Phu Nhi village, Van Loc commune, Thanh Hoa province) said that his family's duck farm of more than 3,000m2 raising over 20,000 chickens on the Ma River branch was almost "erased" after just one heavy rain overnight.

I have never seen the water rise so quickly. Seeing the flock of ducks being cared for for for so long as they died in the barn helplessly. So much capital borrowed is now considered a total loss, Mr. Kieu choked up.
According to Mr. Kieu, before the storm, he and his children reinforced the barn and hired people to build more dykes behind the garden. But at around 10am on September 30, the river water suddenly rose, overflowed, and quickly submerged the entire flock of ducks. The family only managed to rescue about 7,000 children, the rest drowned in the rushing water.

Two days after the flood, when the turbid water began to recede, Mr. Kieu and his relatives soaked in cold water, waded into the farm to collect each duck carcass and bring it ashore to destroy it, avoiding environmental pollution.

According to calculations, the ducks raised for more than a month with damaged feed, machinery, and livestock equipment caused the family to lose nearly 2 billion VND. Of which, the bank debt of nearly 1 billion VND became the biggest burden.

A duck in the family for more than 10 years, this is the first time I have fallen into debt. It has not been 20 years since there has been such a big flood, who would have thought it would be the right time to invest the most, Mr. Kieu sadly said.
