On June 15, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoi commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province confirmed that a rare accident caused by an agricultural pesticide spraying aircraft had just occurred in the area.
Information from Mr. Tran Van Han (49 years old, living in Hamlet 8, Khanh Hoi Commune, U Minh District) said that he was riding a motorbike on a 2.5-meter concrete road connecting Hamlet 8 when a plane that had spread fertilizer landed on the road and slashed him in the head.
Mr. Han recounted that at around 2:00 p.m. on June 13, a plane driver sprayed pesticides to land on the road. He saw the plane about a few meters from the front, so he thought the driver was waiting for him to pass before taking the plane down. Mr. Han let the car run slowly and then broke down but could not catch up. The plane's fan hit his head in many places, causing him to lose consciousness. A moment later, the farm owner and the plane driver took Mr. Han to Ca Mau General Hospital for treatment.
A doctor of the dental and maxillofacial department of Ca Mau General Hospital said that Mr. Han was hospitalized with many wounds in the head and face due to being hit by a plane. The patient suffered a broken nose, a broken chin and a vision affected by a fan slash.
The doctor said that the open wounds had been sutured, basically not affecting life.
