Da Nang has just prevented the timely transportation of African swine fever from the plains to the mountains for consumption.

On August 2, information from the People's Committee of Phuoc Tra commune, Da Nang city said that the authorities had just discovered and handled a case of illegal transportation of sick pigs in the area.

Previously, at around 4:00 p.m. on August 1, while on duty on the Dong Truong Son route (through Tra No village, Phuoc Tra commune), the commune's interdisciplinary inspection team discovered Mr. Huynh Tan T. (residing in Da Nang city) having suspicious behavior.

Mr. T. was driving a motorbike, carrying an iron cage containing 2 pigs (total weight of about 70kg) behind. To deceive the authorities, Mr. T. used branches and leaves to carefully disguise the cages.

Through inspection, the authorities determined that both pigs were still alive but had signs of African swine fever. At the time of inspection, Mr. T. could not present any documents proving their origin or animal quarantine certificates.

Working with the authorities, Mr. T. admitted that he bought the above pigs in Binh Lanh commune, Da Nang and transported them through many communes with epidemics such as Viet An, Hiep Duc, Phuoc Tra to sell for profit in Tra Doc mountainous commune, Da Nang.

The authorities have drawn up an administrative violation record for Mr. T. for transporting animals of unknown origin without quarantine in the epidemic area. All sick pigs were destroyed immediately according to regulations. Transport vehicles and surrounding areas are also sprayed with disinfectants and disinfectants to prevent the spread of pathogens.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Hung - Chairman of Phuoc Tra Commune People's Committee, the locality is making efforts to implement drastic measures to control the new outbreak of African swine fever. The above incident once again rang the alarm about the awareness of a part of the people, which could cause serious consequences for the livestock industry and public health.

Local authorities recommend that people absolutely do not trade, transport, or slaughter sick pigs; when detecting unusually dead pigs, they should immediately report to the authorities for timely handling measures.
