On the evening of September 20, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Phung Quang Huy - Vice Chairman of Thuy Hung Commune People's Committee, Lang Son province - said that the locality had just recorded a death case in Doan Ket village.
The victim is Mr. N.V.P, born in 1974, a local resident.
According to initial information, on the morning of the same day, because the fields were dry, Mr. P. went to the cultivated area in the village to pump water for production.
By noon, not seeing her husband return to eat, the wife called many times but could not be contacted. Suspecting something unusual, she went to the field to search and discovered that Mr. P. had died near the location where the water pump was placed.
Mr. Huy said that the man was believed to have died from electric shock while pumping water into the field, possibly related to leaking equipment or power lines.
After receiving the information, the commune government directed forces in the village to be present, support the family to handle the incident and take care of the funeral according to local customs. Commune leaders will also visit and encourage relatives of the victims.
The specific cause of the incident is being verified and clarified by functional agencies.
