Lao Cai - A 66-year-old man slipped and fell into a fast-flowing stream while crossing the spillway.

On July 25, the leader of Thuong Bang La commune, Lao Cai province (Van Chan district, old Yen Bai province) informed that local people had just discovered a drowning victim's body in a stream flowing through the commune.

Previously, at noon on July 24, Thuong Bang La Commune Police received a report from people in the stream area of Mo village that a dead body had been washed into the bushes in the middle of the stream.

Immediately afterwards, the authorities of Thuong Bang La commune organized a review and announced the search for the victim.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Ha Van T (born in 1959 residing in Da village, Thuong Bang La commune).

According to the family, at around 7am, Mr. T went to work in the fields, passed the spillway on the road and slipped and fell into the fast-flowing stream. From the location of Mr. T's accident to where the body was discovered, it was about 3.5 km.

Thuong Bang La Commune Police have drawn up a record of the handover of the body to the family for burial according to local customs.

From the night of July 22 to the morning of July 25, due to the influence of storm No. 3, Lao Cai province experienced heavy to very heavy rain, causing serious damage.

Floods and thunderstorms caused by the circulation of storm No. 3 have affected 113 houses, of which 10 houses were threatened with landslides, 32 houses were deeply submerged in floodwater, and 71 houses had their roofs blown off.

Many points on National Highways 4D, 2D, 32C and Provincial Roads 153, 154, 155, 156 were also flooded and landslides.

The total initial estimated damage is more than 4 billion VND.
