On the evening of July 25, the confrontation between U23 Indonesia and U23 Thailand in the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Semi-final took place as dramatically as expected.
U23 Thailand opened the scoring in the 60th minute after Yotsakorn scored. However, U23 Indonesia did not give up and tried to find an equalizer in the remaining time.
In the 84th minute, the team from the archipelago brought the match back to the starting line with an equalizer of 1-1 by Jens Raven. This score was kept unchanged until the end of the 90 minutes of official play, forcing both teams to enter extra time.
Despite their best efforts in the next 30 minutes, both Thailand and Indonesia could not score more goals, putting the semi-final match in the brain-weighing tournament.
Accordingly, U23 Thailand was the team that missed the first shot, but U23 Indonesia also missed the opportunity in the third shot. The score chase lasted until the 8th shot, when Thailand missed another shot and Indonesia did not miss the opportunity to end the shootout with a 7-6 victory.
Previously, in the early semi-final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines, coach Kim Sang-sik's team won a narrow 2-1 victory over their opponent. The two goals of Dinh Bac and Xuan Bac helped the "Golden Star Warriors" enter the final of the Southeast Asian U23 tournament for the third consecutive time.
This is the second consecutive time the two teams have met in the final. In the tournament 2 years ago, U23 Vietnam also defeated U23 Indonesia on the penalty spot to win the championship.
The 2025 U23 Southeast Asian final between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29.
