In mid-July, present on National Highway 4E section passing through Lung Phinh commune (Lao Cai province), reporters noted that traffic through the landslide area still poses many potential safety risks.
The landslide point is located on a steep mountain pass road, one side is a positive taluy, the other side is a deep abyss. The road surface is significantly narrowed due to landslides, many cars and motorbikes have to slow down, giving each other each meter of road to overcome the critical location.

During heavy rain, soil and rocks from the positive slope continue to be at risk of spilling onto the road surface, causing people to worry every time they travel.
Functional forces are regularly present to divert traffic, regulate traffic and support vehicles through dangerous areas.
Mr. Vang A Chu - a resident of Lung Phinh commune - said that National Highway 4E is the daily road for people in the area. Every time it rains, both motorcyclists and cars have to drive very slowly because they are worried that the road will continue to landslide.
This road connects with many communes, so the number of vehicles is quite large. We only hope that the landslide point will be resolved soon to make travel safer, especially in the rainy season," Mr. Chu shared.

National Highway 4E is an important traffic route connecting Bac Ha and Lung Phinh communes with Si Ma Cai, Sin Cheng communes and many neighboring areas.
Through investigation, the road management unit is proposing to install a temporary iron bridge to ensure traffic during the rainy and flood season, and at the same time continue to monitor the diễn biến of landslides to develop long-term handling plans.
According to the recommendations of functional forces, people when traveling through the area need to reduce speed, carefully observe the scene and comply with the instructions of the regulating force to ensure safety.
Previously, due to the impact of natural disasters, National Highway 4E section from Bac Ha commune to Lung Phinh commune was seriously degraded, many sections had landslides of both negative and positive taluy slopes, causing traffic unsafety.
To overcome the above situation, the Lao Cai Provincial Road Maintenance Management Board has implemented a project to renovate and upgrade the road with a total cost of nearly 50 billion VND.
After completing site clearance, the contractor mobilized machinery and manpower for construction and has basically completed the entire route to date.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Doan Van Huynh - Director of the Lao Cai Road Maintenance Management Board - said that the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 4E from Bac Ha commune to Lung Phinh commune has been completed, only the subsidence point at Km3 has not been completely resolved.
According to the initial project, this location had not experienced landslides, so no funding was allocated for treatment. After that, the area continued to subside due to complex geological foundation, with vertical cliffs and deep slopes below, so each rainy season becomes more complicated.
The province is studying a plan and will implement it with a separate project. The preparation and appraisal of the plan takes quite a lot of time because it must ensure safety and efficiency," Mr. Huynh said.
