According to the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center (Tramoc), for the first time, management agencies can set schedules, monitor transport activities and approve transport orders of units on the same FMC centralized management platform. Operating data is updated in real time, ensuring transparency, accuracy and timeliness.
The centralized digital data warehouse also helps management agencies have a basis for evaluating and adjusting the public transport network to suit actual needs, and at the same time proactively build ticket price policies for each stage without being interrupted like traditional paper tickets.
The interconnected electronic ticket system creates a connection platform between management agencies, transport units and people using services. The entire process from ticket issuance, payment, operation management to acceptance of public passenger transport services is digitized on a unified platform.
As soon as it is put into operation, the system will automatically calculate the travel distance in the Ring Road 1 area to implement the free ticket policy according to the resolution of the Hanoi City People's Council in the period from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The acceptance process between management agencies and transport enterprises is also carried out entirely electronically.
For transportation businesses, the new system supports automatic processing of activities from operating planning, ticket issuance, ordering, personnel management to revenue control on the same platform, contributing to streamlining the apparatus and improving management efficiency.
People can pay flexibly with traffic cards, virtual cards, bank cards or QR codes from electronic wallets on their phones. Passengers aged 60 and over only need to use their citizen ID card to verify information when using public transport.
Ticket services are also completely digitized. People can register, buy tickets or extend online through applications or websites without having to go to the transaction counter. For single tickets, the system applies a price calculation mechanism based on the actual distance, passengers only need to scan their card when boarding the car to record the starting point of the journey.
In addition to single tickets, passengers can choose day tickets, weekly tickets or monthly tickets with flexible terms from 1 to 12 months, with many preferential policies according to usage time.
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that putting the interconnected electronic ticket system into operation is of great significance in realizing the policy of digital transformation, developing science and technology and modernizing public transport management.
The interconnected electronic ticket system is not only a technological solution but also an important foundation for building the smart transportation ecosystem of the Capital. People can use an account or a unified payment method to access current and future public transport modes" - Mr. Duong Duc Tuan emphasized.
According to Hanoi City's orientation, in the next phase, the system will be expanded to connect with urban railways, public bicycles, taxis, technology cars, railways and aviation, aiming to form an interconnected, convenient and seamless transportation ecosystem for people. In the future, electronic ticket cards may also become a multi-service payment platform, contributing to building a more modern and convenient digital environment for people in the Capital.
