Abandoned rice fields
On March 19, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper in Thach Lien Commune (Thach Ha District) recorded on the large field where the VSIP Ha Tinh Industrial Park Project (phase 1) has reclaimed people's rice fields, there are still many hectares of abandoned land that have not been cleared.
Mr. Bui Dinh Quoc (born in 1987, residing in Phu Quy village, Thach Lien commune), in the recent Winter - Spring crop, he sprayed herbicide on an area of 30,000m2 to prepare for the land and rice cultivation. However, this is the land of the VSIP Ha Tinh Project that has reclaimed the land from the people, so they do not allow him to cultivate anymore.

Knowing that I was planning to do the fields, VSIP stopped because they said they were about to do the construction. I said I was farming, if I were to construct, I would suffer the damage myself, but they still did not give me. However, they have not yet come to construct. If I had let them do it, I would definitely have had time to harvest more rice in this crop, Mr. Quoc pointed out the fields of Phu Quy village with regret.
According to Mr. Quoc, in the Summer - Autumn crop of 2024, when the VSIP Ha Tinh Project had started construction, he still managed to grow a rice crop on an area of 30,000m2, after deducting investment costs, he still made a profit of about 40 million VND.
According to the reporter's investigation, in the recent Winter - Spring crop, many farmers in Thach Lien commune regretted the abandoned VSIP project land, so they prepared the land for sowing. However, VSIP later requested that they not be allowed to cultivate anymore, so they had to stop. Up to now, those plots of land are still abandoned and unconstructed.
Hope the project speeds up progress
In June 2024, Vietnam Singapore Urban and Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company (VSIP) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the VSIP Ha Tinh Industrial Park Project (phase 1) with a scale of 190.41 hectares, a total investment of more than 1,555 billion VND in Thach Lien and Viet Tien communes (Thach Ha district).
According to the schedule, the project will be completed after 3 years of construction. When completed, it is expected to attract domestic and foreign investors in fields such as: Electricity and electronics, semiconductors, precision mechanics, energy, electric vehicle batteries, metals, auto parts, food processing, logistics services, factories for rent... will create more than 30,000 jobs, creating momentum for the development and economic restructuring of Ha Tinh province.

However, after nearly 1 year of construction, in recent times, the project's construction has shown signs of being sluggish, with only a few excavators operating at the construction site. Currently, many hectares of rice fields have not been constructed and have been peeled off.
Mr. Tran Van Huong - Chairman of Thach Lien Commune People's Committee - said that currently, there are still dozens of hectares of agricultural land in the VSIP Ha Tinh project that have been reclaimed from the people but have not yet been constructed with embankment. Previously, in Thach Lien commune, the project had carried out the excavation of the phong phong in some locations, but after a while, it was no longer carried out.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Tien commune - shared that the local government hopes that the VSIP Ha Tinh project will speed up the construction progress, ensuring the completion of the project on schedule. Thereby, attracting effective investment to create jobs for local people and promoting the development of service activities accordingly.
