From early morning on July 28, amidst the dense mud, Mr. Cao Viet Binh (63 years old, residing in Hoa Bac block, Tuong Duong commune, Nghe An province) was busy picking up the remaining items from the house that was partially swept away by floodwaters. The only thing that remains intact is the worship photo of the ancestors. I dont know what else to say. I have spent my whole life collecting a small house, now the water is all over. It was really empty... Mr. Binh choked up.

Not far away, in Hoa Dong block, nearly 80% of houses were flooded, and their belongings were swept away. When the flood came, people could only run away and could not carry anything other than clothes on their bodies.
Ms. Nguyen Vong choked up in the middle of a devastated house: "We used to calculate every penny for this amount of goods, now seeing this scene, the house is completely destroyed, it is considered a total loss...".

Not only material damage, but mental pain is also evident in the eyes of children. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh (9 years old) burst into tears when she saw her books and book bag floating in water. I dont know if I can go back to school or not... I said sadly.
The historic flood caused very serious consequences in Muong Xen commune (Nghe An). National Highway 7 - running in the heart of Muong Xen commune - with nearly 7km of main road connecting the lowlands with the mountainous communes of Nghe An is covered in mud for meters.

In the first days, the water began to recede, but the roads were still littered with mud, traffic was paralyzed, and people's lives were facing many difficulties.
According to a quick report from Muong Xen commune (Nghe An province), by 9:00 a.m. on July 28, 2025, the water level in rivers and streams had receded by 4-5 m from the flood peak. However, many households are still submerged in mud and have no water to clean up.
Many residential roads were broken, seriously affecting people's travel. Currently, 106 households are still evacuating to avoid floods and cannot return home due to lack of clean water to clean up and treat mud and clean the environment.

Mr. Lo Dinh Thu - Chairman of Muong Xen Commune People's Committee - said that up to now, the commune has recorded heavy damage to people and property: 20 households have completely collapsed. In which, Nhan Cu: 6 households; Cau Tam: 7 households; Nhan Ly: 1 household; Na Nhu: 1 household; Block 4: 3 households; Block 5: 2 households. A total of 456 households were deeply flooded and had their assets swept away.
Mr. Le Van Tho (residing in block 1, Muong Xen commune) choked up: "Our family has not paid off all the debt after the flood in 2022, now we have to bear this storm. I don't know where to start to pay off all the debts I owe my husband.

Amidst loss, humanity in disaster becomes a bright spot in the flood area. Many emergency relief teams were present, carrying instant noodles, clean water, warm blankets and medicine. Ms. To Thi Hieu - head of the volunteer group of Van Du commune (Nghe An) - shared: "Witnessing the scene of people showing empty hands, we could not stand outside. Hopefully, this small support will help people recover somehow".
Local authorities have also urgently set up evacuation points, erected temporary tents, restored traffic and continued to count damage to support. However, the journey to restore the lives of hundreds of households will be long - and the whole community will be in great need of cooperation.
