Present in the most dangerous place
During the days of rapid flooding in Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, the forces of Military Region 5 had almost no time to rest. When directly inspecting the flooded areas and assigning tasks to the soldiers, the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense clearly directed: Only withdraw when completing the task. That order is also a warning to each officer and soldier that supporting people to overcome the consequences is the most important task at this time.
In places where people are swimming in the sea, soldier boats are immediately brought down, crowded into small alleys to bring the elderly, children and families trapped to safety. Some units have not yet collected troops after completing the support in the locality, but a new flood has arrived, they immediately received orders, marched through the night to reach another disaster area, continuing to enter a new round of difficulties.
In Quy Nhon Dong ward (Gia Lai), Brigade 368 has synchronously deployed many tasks: Dising the area, treating stagnant water points, cleaning, collecting waste, clearing sewers, supporting rice and necessities for people severely affected. The work took place continuously, tightly and safely, clearly demonstrating the sense of responsibility and dedication to the people.
In Dak Lak, Brigade 573 was unexpectedly rewarded for its outstanding achievements in supporting the locality. They mobilized canoes and specialized vehicles, crossed the fast-flowing water to provide food, clear mud, clear landslide areas, clean schools, and repair equipment, helping students return to class soon. Every part of the work, no matter how small, carries the urgency and heart for the people of the soldiers.

Maintaining the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers
Not only were they present at the most dangerous time, the forces of Military Region 5 were also the ones who stayed the longest to rebuild their lives after the storm and flood. When the water recedes, schools and residential areas are gradually brighter - green - clean - beautiful thanks to the steadfast hands of the army. Roots of water-y shoes, muddy military uniforms, quick meals in the pouring rain... have become familiar images for many days.
In Dak Lak, the working group led by the Military Region 5 Command directly presented support: Tens of thousands of scarves, clothes, tens of tons of rice, dry food, food and thousands of gifts. This is an urgent resource to help people temporarily stabilize their lives and have conditions to restore production.
Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Thi Nguyen Thao expressed her sincere thanks to the Military Region 5 Command and its affiliated units for always standing shoulder to shoulder with the locality throughout the past time. At the same time, he said that the recent flood caused great damage to people and property, making people's lives difficult. In that situation, the armed forces of Military Region 5 arrived in time, directly participating in the search and rescue in very harsh weather conditions.
A war in peacetime - a war with fierce natural disasters - but the soldiers still maintain the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers: brave, disciplined, and devoted to the people. They do not wait for thanks, do not ask for recognition; they just quietly fulfill their responsibilities as soldiers, wholeheartedly serving the people.
Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 5 - said that the Military Region will continue to mobilize forces to concentrate maximum human resources and means and closely coordinate with local authorities to promptly overcome the consequences of natural disasters. At the same time, he requested the Provincial Military Command to continue reviewing and synthesizing the support needs of the people so that the Military Region can consider and promptly support the forces, vehicles and necessities.
Temporary opening of Prenn Pass, gateway to the center of Lam Dong province
On the afternoon of November 25, Lam Dong province temporarily opened the road to Prenn Pass, the main road from the southern provinces to Da Lat urban area, the center of Lam Dong province.
Previously, on the morning of November 17, this 4-lane pass was seriously eroded and paralyzed. Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee had to declare a natural disaster emergency for the Prenn Pass road, prohibiting people and vehicles from traveling through the pass.
The Department of Construction recommends that people and vehicles, when traveling through Prenn Pass, pay attention to limiting travel through the route when there is heavy rain, at night, limited visibility ( fog) except when necessary, and, during the travel process, pay attention to the current recruitment status to promptly handle if an incident occurs.
