Lam Dong – The company has raised the compensation price for the second time for dairy cows that got sick and died after vaccination, but people still do not agree.

On October 7, Lam Dong Livestock, Veterinary and Aquaculture Branch informed that Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company (Navetco) sent a price list on compensation for damages and support for dairy farmers for the second time.

This time the price has increased by 5,000 - 15,000 VND/kg compared to the first time. However, people have not accepted it because they think this price is still lower than the value of the damaged dairy cows.

Accordingly, Navetco compensates 60,000 VND/kg of live cattle; 70,000 VND/kg of pregnant cattle; 80,000 VND/kg of non-pregnant breeding cattle; 85,000 VND/kg of pregnant breeding cattle.

Navetco also offers support of 1.5 million VND/cow for treatment costs; 3 million VND/cow for damage costs for sick dairy cows with full tanks. Sick cows that miscarry are compensated 7.5 million VND/cow, not applicable to dead cows.

For beef cattle, the cost of supporting disease treatment is 1 million VND/cow; support for sick cows that miscarry is 5 million VND/cow.

Because the people have not agreed with the above compensation price, Lam Dong Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Aquaculture Branch requested Navetco to continue meeting, dialogue and renegotiate the compensation price.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that Lam Dong authorities organized vaccinations against lumpy skin disease in buffaloes and cows in districts and cities from July 22 to 31.

To date, more than 31,000 doses have been administered, of which 10,000 have been administered to dairy cows.

According to local residents, 7-10 days after the injection, the dairy cows showed signs of weakness, stopped eating, coughed, foamed at the mouth, had bloody diarrhea, and died. Currently, the Lam Dong provincial agricultural sector has recorded the death of 550 dairy cows across the province.

The Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development concluded that the cause of diarrhea in dairy cows was due to infection with Pestivirus tauri (BVDV type 2) after vaccination with Navet-LpVac vaccine of Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company.
