Faced with the risk of serious landslides threatening life and property, on October 31, Cam Duong ward authorities urgently evacuated 16 households on Tung Tung street, group 12 out of the danger zone.
On the morning of November 1, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, in the embankment area of Lao Cai Provincial Political School, behind the row of houses of households, there were signs of strong movement, the ground collapsed, and many large cracks appeared.

Some sections of concrete embankments show signs of being broken and skewed; many houses have cracked walls, the foundation is pushed up with rocks and soil, and there is a risk of collapse at any time.
According to local authorities, the group 12 area was originally a "hot spot" for landslides after storms and floods. In 2024, the circulation of storm No. 3 (Yagi) caused a large landslide behind the Provincial Political School, damaging 22 houses.

In 2025, the consecutive impact of storms No. 10 and 11 will cause the landslide area to spread towards Mo Sinh Street, weakening the soil, causing many sections of the embankment to crack and erode severely.
According to observations, people have moved their belongings and assets out of their homes, leaving only the bare walls.

Ms. Hoang Thi Dung (a resident of Cam Duong ward) shared: More than 20 households on Tung Tung street had to flee the landslide last year, now there are only houses leaning and piled up with ruins. Up to now, there are additional households that have to be relocated due to the risk of landslides. Hopefully, the government will soon have a solution to stabilize people's lives".

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuyen - Vice Chairman of Cam Duong Ward People's Committee, said that the relocation was urgently implemented on the morning of October 31 to ensure absolute safety for the people.
"The ward has notified and mobilized households to move to a safe place, temporarily reside at relatives' houses or kindergartens. In the near future, we will coordinate with departments, branches and investors, the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, to invite experts to assess the stability of the embankment system. If safety is not guaranteed, the ward will propose the province to reclaim the land and arrange resettlement for households," said Mr. Tuyen.

Currently, Cam Duong ward authorities are coordinating with specialized units to conduct geological surveys, assess the stability level and propose long-term solutions.
While waiting for the official plan, the authorities sent forces to stand guard, fence off and warn of dangerous areas.
"People's safety is a top priority. The ward will report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and support for long-term housing so that people can feel secure in stabilizing their lives," Mr. Tuyen emphasized.
