Joy in the border area
In the last days of October, the atmosphere in border communes such as Y Ty and Muong Khuong became strangely bustling.
Everyone is excited by the news that the locality is about to have a new, more modern and spacious ethnic boarding school.
Ms. Ly Thi Sanh, Choan Then village (Y Ty commune) shared: "For a long time, people have wanted to have a new school so that their children could study and live well. The winter here is very cold, children in boarding school also have a hard time, lacking everything due to limited economic conditions. Now that we heard that a new construction site was about to start, everyone was as happy as Tet".

Not only in Y Ty, in Muong Khuong - one of the border communes with a large number of ethnic minority students, joy also spread throughout the villages.
Mr. Giang Seo Pao, Muong Khuong commune, excitedly said: "The state has invested in building a new school, our people are very grateful. With the words, children will suffer less than their parents.

According to the plan, the projects to build ethnic boarding schools in the Lao Cai border area will start on November 2, 2025.
The total investment for each school ranges from VND230 billion to VND299 billion, including classrooms, student housing, sports areas, dining areas and green grounds, ensuring modern, safe and friendly boarding school standards.
Removing difficulties for education in mountainous areas
Mr. Cao Van Van - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Y Ty commune said that in early November, the locality will start construction of the Y Ty Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
According to Mr. Van, the new school is both the concern of the state and the desire of Lao Cai provincial authorities at all levels to improve knowledge and education for people in the border area.

"Currently, Y Ty commune is mainly Ha Nhi people, with many economic difficulties, so investing in standard schools is always a great wish of the government and people. The people are very excited and very supportive.
The new boarding school not only helps students have better housing and learning but also motivates long-term development for Y Ty. Children are educated in a good environment, and will later return to serve their homeland, contributing to maintaining a peaceful border area, Mr. Van shared.

Also one of the localities invested in building new boarding schools, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hung - Chairman of Muong Khuong Commune People's Committee assessed that investing in new boarding schools is an important step to improve the quality of education in mountainous areas.
"Currently, the facilities of many schools in the area have degraded, not meeting the needs of learning and living. When there is a new school, the learning and living conditions of students will be significantly improved.
Along with that, the locality is also carrying out site clearance procedures so that the project can be constructed smoothly, ensuring progress," said Mr. Hung.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vu Lan - Director of Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - the investor of the projects said that 4 boarding schools in the province will start construction on November 2. Currently, the unit is urgently completing preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony to take place smoothly.
"These are key projects that the province is particularly interested in. We are committed to implementing in accordance with regulations, ensuring the quality of the project, so that students in mountainous areas can soon have a new, solid and safe school.
At the same time, I also hope that localities will coordinate to remove difficulties in site clearance so that contractors can construct on schedule," added the Director of the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board.
New joy is spreading throughout the Lao Cai border area - where each school is not only a place to sow knowledge, but also a symbol of faith and hope for a bright future for the children of ethnic minorities.
