At about 3:00 p.m. on December 22, 2025, at Km 46+500, National Highway 5 (Hanoi - Hai Phong afternoon), in Tu Minh Ward, Hai Phong City, a series of traffic accidents occurred between 7 cars.
The tractor trailer with license plate 15C-132.14 pulling a trailer 15R-024.15, driven by Nguyen Van Thinh (born in 1974, residing in Thuong Do, Lai Khe commune, Hai Phong city), traveling from Hanoi to Hai Phong, crashed into the back of a truck, then collided consecutively with 5 vehicles in the same direction, causing a serious "car accident".
Initial results recorded 2 deaths, 1 injury and 7 vehicles were severely damaged. The Investigation Police Agency of Hai Phong City Police has accepted and verified the cause.
Through preliminary verification and driver's testimony, the initial cause was determined to be that the tractor-trailer did not keep a safe distance and did not ensure speed to stop in time. Driver Nguyen Van Thinh admitted that while driving, he bowed to the passenger seat to get a bottle of drinking water, did not observe fully, and violated the driving operation process. Quickly test for alcohol and drug levels for negative results.
The Traffic Police Department has repeatedly warned about the risk of accidents when drivers do not observe, lose focus due to fatigue, sleepiness, use of electronic devices, or do their own work. Failure to keep a safe distance and speed is the main cause of the above series of accidents.
