At about 3:00 p.m. on December 22, at Km 46+500 National Highway 5, through Tu Minh Ward, Hai Phong City, a series of traffic accidents occurred between many cars, killing 2 people, injuring 1 person, and damaging 7 vehicles.
According to initial information, the tractor-trailer driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, born in 1974, residing in Lai Khe commune (Hai Phong city) crashed into the rear of a car with license plate 14C-225.84 driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Khai, residing in Ha Bac ward (Hai Phong city) in the same direction in front.
The collision caused the car 14C-225.84 to be pushed and collide again with the rear of a car with license plate 34A-977.67 driven by Mr. Truong Manh Quyen, born in 1990 (residing in Chu Van An ward, Hai Phong city). In this car was Mr. Luu Cong Bac, residing in Ha Tay commune. After the collision, Mr. Truong Manh Quyen was injured, Mr. Luu Cong Bac died in the cabin.
Vehicle 34A-977.67 continued to be pushed back and crashed into the rear of a car with license plate 15H-142.16. At the time of the accident, the driver of the vehicle had not been identified and had died in the cabin at the scene.
Then, the 15H-142.16 car continued to collide with the rear of a car driven by Pham Ngoc Tuan, born in 1990, residing in Luong Xa Bac (Phu Thai Commune, Hai Phong City). This vehicle continued to collide with the rear of a car with license plate 34A-719.73 driven by Mr. Le Minh Duc, born in 1985, then crashed into a car with license plate 15C-199.20 pulling a trailer 15R-088.00 driven by Mr. Luong Huu Viet (born in 1990, residing in Phu Thai Commune).
Immediately after the incident, the authorities were present at the scene to organize rescue, direct traffic and investigate the cause of the accident.
