On September 13, leaders of Nha Trang Ward People's Committee said that the locality has just issued a document requesting organizations and individuals producing and doing business in the area to strictly comply with regulations on signs, advertising boards and the use of foreign languages.
Previously, through state management, the locality still recorded the situation of some signs and billboards not complying with regulations.
Common errors include expressing entirely in foreign languages; foreign language characters larger than Vietnamese or placed above Vietnamese characters; signs and billboards with inappropriate content, size, and location.
Nha Trang Ward People's Committee has issued decisions to sanction 6 cases and is continuing to inspect and handle violations.
To rectify the situation of using signs and advertising boards in foreign languages in violation of regulations, the Ward People's Committee requests production and business establishments to review the use of Vietnamese and foreign languages on signs and advertising products.
Accordingly, advertising products must have content in Vietnamese, except for cases permitted by law such as trademarks, slogans, brands, proper names in foreign languages or internationalized words that cannot be replaced by Vietnamese.
In case of using both Vietnamese and foreign languages on one advertising product, foreign characters must not exceed three-quarters of the Vietnamese character size and must be placed below the Vietnamese character.
For signs of production and business establishments, the name of the establishment must be shown correctly according to the business registration certificate; at the same time, there must be an address, phone number and compliance with regulations on handwriting.
Nha Trang Ward People's Committee also requested business establishments to check the size and location of signboards.
The horizontal signboard has a maximum height of 2m, and the length does not exceed the horizontal area of the house facade.
Vertical signs have a maximum width of 1m, a maximum height of 4m but do not exceed the height of the floor where the sign is placed.
Signs that do not cover escape and fire fighting spaces; do not encroach on sidewalks, roads or affect public transport.
For billboards, the content must be truthful, accurate, clear, and not cause misunderstanding about the features, quality, uses, and effects of products, goods, and services.
Organizations and individuals performing advertising on billboards and banners must carry out procedures to notify advertising products to competent state agencies according to regulations.
The Ward People's Committee requests establishments to proactively inspect all signs and billboards being used. If foreign language content, size, location or form of expression are found to be inappropriate, it is necessary to proactively adjust, replace, dismantle or fix them.
In the coming time, Nha Trang Ward People's Committee will continue to inspect and handle violations, thereby contributing to building a civilized and healthy business environment and a friendly and modern image of Nha Trang.
