The N4 overpass branch of the An Phu intersection project (Binh Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City) when put into operation will allow vehicles from Dong Van Cong street to turn right directly to connect to Mai Chi Tho street (direction to Hanoi Highway). This item is expected to quickly "cool down" the prolonged congestion on the Mai Chi Tho axis, especially solving the flow of container trucks entering and leaving Cat Lai port during peak hours.
Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that currently at the N4 overpass construction site, there is 1 contractor focusing on construction, closely following the progress every day to ensure the goal of opening to traffic by the end of July 2026. This is also the 5th largest item of the completed project, after the HC1-01, HC1-02 underpasses, N2 overpass and N3 overpass branch have been put into operation in turn.

Recorded on July 15, many engineers, workers and machinery are rushing to construct to put the N4 overpass branch into operation on schedule.

In many areas, workers are busy cutting and bending steel to prepare for the installation of the next components. To date, a section of the bridge deck has been concreted, and some other sections have begun to be paved with the first asphalt layer, gradually shaping the complete appearance of the project.

An Phu intersection is one of the key transport infrastructure projects of Ho Chi Minh City, started in December 2022 with a total investment of more than 3,408 billion VND. It is expected that when the entire project is completed in the third quarter of 2027, the project will synchronously connect with My Thuy intersection (Cat Lai ward, expected to be completed in 2026), contributing to significantly reducing the load on the Cat Lai port entering and exiting area.
Along with the plan to start construction of the inter-port road and expand the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City is expected to become smooth in the near future.
When officially put into operation, branch N4 will take on the role of separating the flow of cars and container trucks from Dong Van Cong direction to the elevated road to the Mai Chi Tho axis. This solution helps completely eliminate cross-traffic conflicts with cars going straight under the ground intersection. This is extremely meaningful for the An Phu area, which is the gateway to trade with the highest density of container trucks in the city with an average of more than 20,000 vehicles entering and leaving Cat Lai port every day and night.
