Many Vietnam Airlines flights have to be canceled due to storm No. 5

Informing Lao Dong Newspaper on the afternoon of August 24, Vietnam Airlines said that the airline has just adjusted its exploitation plan due to the impact of storm No. 5.

This airline plans to adjust the operating plan at Dong Hoi, Thanh Hoa, and Hue airports on August 24 and 25.

At Phu Bai airport (Hue) on August 24, flights VN1549 and VN1548; VN7067 and VN7066; VN7545 and VN7544 between Hanoi and Hue; VN1378 and VN1379 between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue will be canceled.

On August 25, flights will have their flight times adjusted, and are expected to take off and land after 12:00.

At Dong Hoi airport, on August 25, flights VN1404 and VN1405 between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Hoi; VN1591 and VN1590 between Hanoi and Dong Hoi will be canceled.

At Tho Xuan airport (Thanh Hoa) on August 25, flights between Thanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City, including: VN1273 and VN1272; VN7270 and VN7271; VN1276 and VN1277; VN7276 and VN7275; VN7079 and VN7078; VN1278 and VN1279 will be canceled.

Many domestic and international flights on August 25 may be affected by the route due to the development of storm No. 5. The affected passengers will be supported by the airline according to regulations.

Vietnam Airlines recommends that passengers wear seat belts throughout the flight, especially in complicated weather conditions. Proactively installing seat belts, even when the signal lights are turned off, is an important measure to help reduce the risk of the aircraft encountering air disturbances.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued an urgent dispatch to relevant units on the prevention and response to storm No. 5.

There are 10 airports affected by the storm, of which 4 airports are directly affected: Tho Xuan, Vinh, Dong Hoi and Phu Bai.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in addition to the 4 airports directly affected by storm No. 5, Tho Xuan - Thanh Hoa, Vinh - Nghe An, Dong Hoi - Quang Tri and Phu Bai - Hue City; airports such as Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Van Don, Da Nang, Chu Lai and Pleiku need to proactively update information to prevent unusual developments when the storm.

For Vinh airport, the Department requires the airport management unit to immediately deploy storm response work, prepare conditions to promptly overcome construction incidents, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by the storm.

The Department requires agencies and units to organize 24/7 duty; strictly implement the process of responding to storms and tropical depressions in civil aviation activities.

The Department also requires airlines and service providers to ensure flight operations, strengthen coordination; closely monitor the developments of storm No. 5 to have plans to adjust flight plans or change flight schedules accordingly and ensure safety for flight operations.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requested Van Don International Airport and airports under the Vietnam Airports Corporation in the area affected by storm No. 5 to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system... to promptly detect and handle damage.

Relevant units are responsible for implementing plans to prevent rain and storms, measures to prevent flooding, clear the flow in airports, protect works, vehicles, and equipment at airports, minimize damage caused by rain and storms and quickly stabilize all aviation activities to serve the needs of passengers.

Storm No. 5 (international name: Kajiki) is a very strong storm, with a very wide range of influence, moving very quickly, especially dangerous, domestic and international forecasters both predict that the storm will make landfall directly on our mainland with strong intensity.
