According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, the whole city has 4.09 million people, the estimated cost of giving gifts of 100,000 VND/person on the occasion of National Day 2.9 is more than 409 billion VND. As of September 2, nearly VND 327 billion has been donated, reaching 79.78% of the plan. In particular, many localities have basically completed giving gifts to people.
Vinh Tuong commune achieved the highest rate of 99.1% (31,786 people, estimated cost of more than 3.17 billion VND, of which more than 3.15 billion VND has been spent). Second place is Gia Hoa commune with 98.98% (40,086 people, estimated at more than 4 billion VND, more than 3.96 billion VND has been spent). Third is My Xuyen ward, which reached 96.32% (51,213 people, estimated at more than 5.1 billion VND, more than 4.93 billion VND has been spent). Next is Truong Long Tay commune, which reached 96%, Vinh Vien commune, which reached 95.76%.
In addition, communes and wards such as Vi Thanh, Hoa Luu, Phuoc Thoi, Nhon My, Ngoc To, Khanh Hoa, Thoi Hung, Dai Thanh, Hoa Tu, Vinh Phuoc, Tan Hoa, Co Do, O Mon, My Quoi, Hung Phu, Long Binh, Phong Nam are also in the group of localities with high gift giving rates in Can Tho City.
Some communes said that there is a gap between the database and the actual population, along with many people going to work far away, leaving the locality, getting married abroad or having passed away, so the actual cost of giving gifts is different from the original estimate.
In Hoa Luu commune, the difference between the database and the actual population is 6,026 people (24,141 compared to 18,115). In fact, the locality has given gifts to 99.44%, only 0.56% (101 people) have not received them because they have not returned from work.
In Dai Thanh ward, the difference between the list according to the budget provided and the list provided by the police agency is 122 people. The locality actually has 176 people who have not received it, reaching a rate of 99.95%.
In Vi Thanh ward, after excluding 3,547 cases (including those who work far away, leave the locality, have died but have not yet had their household registration cleared, married to foreigners, and have no legal residence), the actual remaining population is 29,406 people. Of which, the locality has given gifts to 29,147 people, reaching a rate of 99.12%.
According to records, on August 31, 1 and 2, the localities urgently deployed the giving of gifts to the people. Many wards and communes work until 9pm, even on duty all night to receive, process and give gifts in time. For disadvantaged households, the elderly, and lonely people, localities have organized groups to go to their homes to give gifts.
Can Tho City People's Committee said that for places that have not yet been completed, the gift giving will continue to be carried out; in case of objective reasons, people will receive them no later than September 15, 2025.
