Completed assessment of flight methods at Long Thanh airport
Long Thanh International Airport (abbreviated as Long Thanh Airport) is a national key project with a total capital of about VND 109,000 billion in phase 1, located in Dong Nai province, including 4 component projects. In particular, component project 1 (headquarters of state management agencies), currently the works of airport headquarters, customs headquarters, immigration management headquarters and local police headquarters have all been started, basically achieving progress, many items are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
As for component project 2 - "Flight management services" in phase 1 of the Long Thanh airport project, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) has completed all assessment tests of flight methods according to PBN (Performance-Based navigation) standards at Long Thanh airport. This is an important step to realize the operation of this airport on schedule, ensuring operational efficiency from the first day of operation.
From July 31 to August 2, 2025, VATM will coordinate with relevant parties to deploy flight inspection and assessment for 68 flight methods. Initial results show that the aircraft is capable of taking off and landing safely in Long Thanh, the collected data will be used for the next standard flights in October 2025 and will officially serve from 2026.
Also according to VATM, the progress of the construction of the Long Thanh Airport Air Traffic Control Tower, 123m high, has completed the roof (about 2 months ahead of schedule). All auxiliary items such as radar stations, approach points, meteorological monitoring systems, etc. are expected to be basically completed before the end of September 2025; Specialized equipment will be installed and completed in December 2025.
VATM has also announced the decision to appoint key staff for the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Center; Closely coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to complete the dossier for granting a license to operate the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Station, as well as the license for related non-resident personnel.
Ensuring the progress of the Long Thanh airport passenger terminal
For component project 3 - essential works in airports, the total investment is VND 99,000 billion. This is a package considered the heart and gantt road of the entire Long Thanh airport project, due to the construction of an important project, the passenger terminal.
According to Vietnam Airports Corporation ACV: Currently, all packages of the project are being constructed simultaneously by ACV on the entire construction site in accordance with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to the wind and storm", "3 shifts, 4 teams", constructing "over holidays, over Tet, over holidays" of the Prime Minister. The contractor consortia have mobilized hundreds of construction teams, nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and about 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress with the goal of basically completing the project by the end of 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.
Package 4.6 (landing track, taxiway, landing track) has so far completed and technically exploited the runway before April 30, 2025, 3 months ahead of the contract; Package 4.7 (passenger terminal aircraft parking lot) strives to complete in March 2026, shortening 5 months compared to the contract progress; Package 4.8 (Inner Port Transport and Technical Infrastructure) strives to complete before June 30, 2026, shortening the landing progress by 3 months compared to the contract progress; Package 5.10 (passenger terminal construction) strives to complete the basic construction part in December 2025; Package 6.12 (Construction of the Traffic Connection System No. 1 and Line No. 2) has been put into use by the expressway 4.8 (Inner Port Transport and Technical Infrastructure) to complete before June 30, 2025, and the contract is also expected to be completed in 2025, and the contract is also short-term compared to September 2, 2025, and the contract is expected to be completed in 2025.
For component project 4, ground service works such as food supply area, ship hygiene treatment, aircraft maintenance... have simultaneously started many projects with the goal of basically completing by the end of 2025.
Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with units to organize the Long Thanh Airport Employment Festival on August 23 in An Phuoc Commune, prioritizing the recruitment of local people, especially households donating land to the project.
On December 19, Long Thanh airport is expected to welcome the first flight from Hanoi to Long Thanh International Airport. The plane will be brought to the completed terminal through the cable-stayed system, completing the inauguration procedures for the first phase of the project.
