The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 6, Ba La - Xuan Mai section, started construction in December 2022 with a total investment of about VND9,590 billion.
The project is 21.7 km long, starting at Km14+00, in Kien Hung ward, ending at Km38+00 in Xuan Mai commune, adjacent to Luong Son commune, Phu Tho province.
The National Highway 6 expansion project includes 3 component projects, including 2 component projects for site clearance (GPMB) in 7 wards and communes (formerly component projects for GPMB 1.1.1, 1.2 invested by the People's Committee of Ha Dong district and the People's Committee of Chuong My district).
After implementing the two-level government, 2 GPMB projects were assigned to the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor; Component project 2 (construction component) was invested by the Project Management Board.

Regarding land acquisition, component project 1.1, compensation, support and resettlement for land acquisition in the old Ha Dong district (now Kien Hung, Duong Noi, Phu Luong and Yen Nghia wards), has completed 11 map sheets; is reviewing and completing 18 map sheets; coordinating with Kien Hung and Duong Noi wards to organize a meeting of people to announce policies.
In December 2025, the Board will coordinate with Phu Luong and Yen Nghia wards to organize an investigation, measurement and inventory according to regulations.
The Project Management Board focuses on resolving problems and completing the investigation, measurement and counting work in the wards in the first quarter of 2026 and developing a compensation, support and resettlement plan starting from the second quarter of 2026 (for households that have completed the investigation, measurement and counting, a plan will be developed in the form of a roll).

Component project 1.2: Compensation, support and resettlement for site clearance in Chuong My district (now Chuong My ward, Phu Nghia and Xuan Mai communes), at the time of receiving the project management board, Chuong My district People's Committee had implemented part of the site clearance work, approved the plan to organize the payment of 747 land plots, 3,128 plots of land had not been approved.
Up to now, 1,010 plots of land have been surveyed and counted, while the rest continue to be surveyed and counted 2,437 plots of land.
In December 2025, the Board will focus on the compensation plan for land acquisition, confirmation of land origin and confirmation of household registration for 1,010 plots of land to be transferred to the People's Committees of wards and communes; it is expected that by January 2026, the investigation and counting will be completed.
Regarding the area of additional approved land acquisition, the Project Management Board is coordinating to investigate and count the Special Forces Corps, with an area of 23,770.2m2 and continue to investigate and count the Division 308/Combat 12, with an area of 3,616.7m2.
To date, the project has received 51.46ha/85.4ha, reaching a rate of 60% (mainly existing traffic routes, part of public land and agricultural land, rice and bean fields, not directly connected to the route due to problems with floating underground works (electricity system, telecommunications, water supply), architectural works, trees, lighting system).

Regarding construction work, the project is divided into 5 construction packages, of which 1 package will start construction in 2022; 2 packages will be implemented in 2023; 2 packages will be implemented in 2025.
Regarding the remaining difficulties and problems, the investor said that the site previously handed over by the People's Committee of Chuong My district for construction was 747 plots of agricultural land (reaching 19,9% of the plot right to 8 hectares of GPMB, not including the area of traffic roads and roadsides), so it was impossible to organize and implement synchronous construction throughout the project.
In addition, at the end of 2025, there will be information on adjusting compensation prices, support for land acquisition as well as construction compensation prices, leading households to have the mentality of waiting until 2026 to receive higher compensation.
According to the plan, the project to expand National Highway 6 from Ba La to Xuan Mai will be completed in 2027.
