On May 30, information from Phu Xuan Commune People's Committee, Thanh Hoa province said that a case of 6 people suspected of poisoning after eating stink bugs had just occurred in the area.

According to initial information, on the afternoon of May 27, a group of people in Sa Lang village, Phu Xuan commune caught about 0.3kg of stink bugs on wild eggplant trees along the Ma River, then brought them home to process into dishes.
On the same evening, 6 people had dinner at the family of Mr. P.B. Th. (born 1966, residing in Sa Lang village). The meal included stink bug dishes, roasted pork, stream fish soup with cherry tomatoes, homemade pumpkin soup and alcohol. Among them, 3 people drank alcohol.
On the morning of May 28, Mr. Th. developed symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, headache, neck and shoulder pain, back pain, so he was taken by relatives to Quan Hoa General Hospital for emergency treatment.
At about 1 am on May 29, the remaining 5 people who ate stink bugs also showed symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, headache... and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
According to the diagnosis of Quan Hoa General Hospital, the patients suffered from food poisoning due to toxic food.
On May 30, all 6 people suspected of poisoning due to eating stink bugs were transferred to Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital for continued treatment and monitoring. Currently, the patients' health is temporarily stable.
