Regarding the fire of passenger bus 79B - 020.09 that occurred at around 10:00 p.m. on October 17 on Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway, km24, the Investigation Police Agency of Ham Tan District Police, Binh Thuan has conducted an investigation according to its authority.
To clarify the cause of the vehicle fire and the location of the fire, the investigation agency will consult the Criminal Science Branch in Ho Chi Minh City (C09B) under the Criminal Science Institute, Ministry of Public Security to examine the burned passenger vehicle and draw conclusions.
Since the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways through Binh Thuan province were put into operation, there have been many car fires while traveling on the expressway, mainly passenger cars and trucks.
On the evening of September 19, a truck caught fire while traveling to km171 of Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway.
At noon on May 23, on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway, at km14 + 600 through Ham Thuan Nam district, a 16-seat limousine caught fire while in traffic.
On the afternoon of April 7, at km47 of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway in Tan Duc commune, Ham Tan district, a truck caught fire.
On the morning of February 19, a sleeper bus caught fire at km 193 of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway.
These are typical car fires on the two highways through Binh Thuan from the beginning of 2024 until now.
In addition to the bus fire on the evening of October 17, according to statistics from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Binh Thuan Provincial Police, there had been 8 previous car fires on 2 highways through Binh Thuan. The fires did not cause any human casualties but caused property damage.
According to the authorities, vehicles traveling continuously at high speed over long distances increases the risk of traffic accidents and technical problems leading to vehicle fires.
According to the recommendation of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Binh Thuan Police, to ensure fire prevention and timely handling of vehicle fire and explosion incidents when participating in traffic, vehicle owners should not install additional electrical devices on their vehicles such as lights, horns, entertainment devices, etc.
