2 pieces of ammunition in the body carrying war memories
At the age of 18, after 5 days of finishing the 10th grade graduation exam, Mr. Phan Tien Dung (Dien Chau, Nghe An) left for the army to join the army and fight in Buon Ma Thuot.
"I remember it on June 12, 1973 - the day that I and my teammates set out to fight against the American enemy. We were eager to go to the battlefield because at that time, I just signed the Paris Agreement, the determination to fight, the victory of the Southern Liberation was strong and drastic. Although we had to confront the enemy, confront the bombs, we were not afraid," - the infantry soldier of the 31th Division of 316 Phan Tien Dung - shared.
Telling us the story of being on the battlefield 50 years ago, Mr. Dung said that in his 3 years of active duty, he remembered most the victory over Buon Ma Thuot in 1975. On the evening of March 8,/1975, Mr. Dung and his teammates were ordered to hand over individual private soldiers at the rear base. All personal documents, photos, and letters must be returned, including the backpack. He and his teammates were only allowed to carry bullets and guns.
At 3:00 p.m. on March 9, when the order to fight was issued, Mr. Dung and his teammates set out to fight, moving towards Buon Ma Thuot town.
The goal of the infantry soldier Tien Dung and his teammates was to hit the armoured area of the 23rd Wei Division in Buon Ma Thuot town. This armored area has five barbed wire fences. Two double fences outside. The third fence is the fence that explodes. The two inner fences are single fences.
Mr. Dung recounted the moment when he hugged the third fence, when the enemy focused on fire and shot out to open the door, so Dung could not come up. However, with his quickness, taking advantage of the break between the two bullets, Mr. Dung crawled on the fence, jerked buds and quickly crawled down to avoid bullets.
When they broke the enemy's barbed wire fence, Mr. Dung's 120 comrades in the company had only about 20 men left. The sacrifice of those soldiers paid for the glorious victory.
Peace was established, the infantry soldier Tien Dung still had two pieces of mortar ammunition in his right lung. That is a testament to the war according to Mr. Dung over the past half century - a 4/4-class war invalid.
Steps to truyen thong in the middle of the forest burned down by bombs
Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang - Liberation Soldier who was directly present in the moment General Duong Van Minh announced his surrender to unconditionally 50 years ago - telling us about the heroic days: “In 1972, I was still a young man, decided to enlist at the time of receiving the university admission notice. Always boiling the will to fight, trying hard for the peace of the nation ”.

Starting out as a second-in-class soldier, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang is a communicator, bringing information to connect strategic checkpoints. According to Mr. Hoang, the announcer at that time only had an AK gun in hand, and every time he received information from the commander, he had to run away. Running day and night, running through the deserted forest, running right under the enemy's bomb and bullet line to bring the fastest information to the key points of our army.
"During the news running in the middle of the 1062 Thuong Duc peak - a place where the green forest was also burned down by bombs and bullets, I admired myself for escaping the enemy's sweep" - Mr. Hoang smiled.
Not only participating directly on the battlefield, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang was also one of the people on the Jeep 15770 going straight to Dinh Doc Lap at noon on April 30, 1975 .
Although 50 years have passed, for me, the moments of the war seem to be right before my eyes. Right before the moment of peace, my teammates still fell on the streets of Saigon, right in front of Dinh Doc Lap gate. That feeling makes me feel heartbroken until now" - Mr. Hoang said.
In 1976, a year after his release, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang returned to his hometown in Hanoi and began studying at the University of Architecture. Up to now, Mr. Hoang has a happy family with good children and kind wives. Since gaining independence and living in peace, Mr. Hoang has also had many opportunities to visit the ancient battlefields and meet his comrades who had fought side by side in the battle.
Every April 30th of each year, I feel like I am reliving the glorious feat of the nation with the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign. So many heroic martyrs are lying on the battlefield, so many families are waiting for their husbands and children to return... I am lucky to still be alive, to know so much peace. Hopefully, today's young generation will continue to promote the traditions of their ancestors, strive to contribute and build a rich and beautiful country worthy of the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh" - Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang choked up.
