Thanh Hoa - On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the situation of illegal fireworks has become complicated, so the authorities are implementing many prevention and control measures.

Criminally prosecute hundreds of subjects

Since the beginning of 2024, police units and forces in the province have arrested and handled more than 200 cases, with more than 300 subjects violating the laws on weapons, explosives, supporting tools and fireworks. Of these, 69 cases have been criminally handled, with 112 subjects.

Typically, at the end of November 2024, Trieu Son District Police fought and destroyed a large firecracker trafficking ring, arrested 3 subjects and seized nearly 1.3 tons of illegal firecrackers.

Most recently, during the peak period of crime suppression and ensuring security and order for the Lunar New Year 2025, Nong Cong District Police have continuously discovered and arrested 2 cases and 3 subjects illegally trading in firecrackers, seizing nearly 40 kg of various types of firecrackers.

Specifically, through the work of grasping the situation, Nong Cong District Police discovered and caught Nguyen The Kien (22 years old, in Thang Binh Commune, Nong Cong District) in the act of storing and transporting 5 boxes of firecrackers weighing 8.4 kg.

To expand the investigation into the case, Nong Cong District Police urgently arrested Le Van Nam (22 years old, in Thang Binh Commune), the subject who provided the above-mentioned firecrackers.

Advice to people

To ensure security and order during the upcoming Lunar New Year, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have implemented many measures to prevent and strictly handle violations related to fireworks. Along with that, they have advised and guided people on some regulations on the management and use of fireworks.

Regarding the management and use of fireworks, only organizations and enterprises under the Ministry of National Defense are allowed to trade in fireworks and must be granted a Certificate of eligibility for security and order by a competent police agency, ensuring conditions for fire prevention, fire fighting, incident prevention and response, and environmental protection.

Organizations and businesses not affiliated with the Ministry of National Defense and individuals trading in fireworks are in violation of the law; people are absolutely not allowed to buy fireworks from agencies, organizations that are not licensed to trade, individuals or on social networking sites, illegal fireworks, fireworks without invoices, without origin, etc.

When intending to buy fireworks, units and people can only buy fireworks from organizations and businesses licensed to produce and trade fireworks. When using, people need to clearly distinguish between fireworks (allowed to use) and explosive fireworks (not allowed to use), to avoid unfortunate violations.
