House No. 101 Tran Hung Dao Street used to be a special address during the heated days of the August Revolution in 1945.

This is where the Hanoi Startup Committee held its first meeting on the morning of August 18, 1945, just two days before the people of the capital rose up to take power.

Here, many important strategic decisions were made, creating a turning point for the victorious General Uprising.

To date, the house is not only a historical relic associated with the important moment of the nation but is also used as the headquarters of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (under the Ministry of Education and Training).

At the August Revolution Square (opposite the Opera House), the place marking the important historical event of the nation, the flags and flowers are colorful, bustling with the footsteps of tourists and people of the capital.

Amidst the modern space and majestic Opera House, the image of a group of people taking photos and visiting has made this place a special cultural and historical destination.

In the bustling flow of Hanoi today, the square still has the spirit of the autumn of 1945, arousing pride and reminding the younger generation about the arduous but glorious revolutionary journey of victory.

Also here, on August 19, 1945, a rally quickly launched a general uprising and won power, organized by the Viet Minh force, thereby starting the government victory in Hanoi.

After the rally on August 19, 1945, revolutionary forces and the masses advanced to No. 12 Ngo Quyen, forcing Kham sai Nguyen Xuan Chu to surrender, marking the collapse of the compensatory government in Hanoi.

The building was then taken over by the Government and used as the Government Guest House, a place to welcome high-ranking groups.

With the majestic ancient French architecture still almost intact, the project is both a foreign service and a revolutionary relic, reminding today's generation of the historic autumn when the government is truly in the hands of the people.

After occupying the Northern part of the screen, the revolutionary forces continued to occupy the Guard Station (next to Ho Guom Theater) and the Central Police Department on Ho Guom Lake (now the headquarters of Hanoi City Police, No. 2 Trang Thi Street), contributing to creating an overwhelming position for the uprising.

The Army Reservoir Camp was occupied by us on August 19, 1945 . This project was built at the end of the 19th century, according to many historical documents, it was designed by French architect - Henri Vidieu, who designed other famous architectural works such as the Supreme Court and the Thong Hoa Palace.

This place was originally a blue-cold soldier camp established by the French colonialists when they set up a protective post in Bac Ky and Trung Ky. The project has a small gate in the shape of a three-door pagoda gate, so far only the ancient gate on Hang Bai street remains.

The victory here and many other events have paved the way for Uncle Ho's return from the Viet Bac battlefield to Hanoi, completing the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

According to history, the first place President Ho Chi Minh set foot when he returned to Hanoi was a house in an alley in Phu Thuong ward, the old Tay Ho.

This is also the house of Mr. Nguyen Thi An, now maintained by Mr. Cong Ngoc Dung, Mr. An's grandson.

Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Cong Ngoc Dung shared that he has been in charge of the house since 1990 until now.

To keep each item, each brick, to the tree and branch, Mr. Dung himself had to observe every day very carefully every change.

"Sometimes when a flower tree in front of my yard shows signs of being damaged by termites and drying out, I also try to keep the tree alive because they are all part of history," said Mr. Dung.

The house at 48 Hang Ngang, owned by businessman Trinh Van Bo and Hoang Thi Minh Ho, is located in a bustling old town, with two frontages facing Hang Ngang and Hang Can streets.

During the August Revolution in 1945, this place became the working location of the Central Party Standing Committee and President Ho Chi Minh.

Notably, at this house, Uncle Ho drafted the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, published at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945. This is also the place where the People stayed in the first days of returning to Hanoi, making many important decisions for the nation's fate.

Today, the house at 48 Hang Ngang is still preserved and open to visitors, becoming a sacred historical relic, associated with the heroic memories of the independent autumn.

The Hanoi Flag Tower, 41m high, built in 1805 under the Nguyen Dynasty and completed after 7 years, is one of the 5 intact works in the ancient citadel complex. After more than two centuries, this special architectural work has witnessed many ups and downs in the capital. During the resistance war against France and the US, this place was used as a strategic observation post.

In particular, after the August Revolution in 1945, the red flag with a yellow star flew for the first time on the top of the flagpole, turning the Hanoi Flag Tower into a sacred symbol of national independence.

Going back in history until September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the first Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the agricultural state in Southeast Asia.

80 years have passed, each red address is a final nail in glorious history, associated with the bustling image of the uprising, the resounding Declaration of Independence and the aspiration for independence and freedom of the whole nation.

The people of the capital still keep in their hearts the pride and reminder of the responsibility to preserve and pass on that history to future generations, as a continuous flow of transmission.
