At about 10 am on December 31, a fire broke out at a gold shop located on the roadside in Chau Thanh commune, Can Tho city.
The fire and thick smoke quickly engulfed the area, people around tried to extinguish the fire with water but failed, many adjacent households had to urgently leave their houses to ensure safety and report to functional forces.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police of Can Tho City mobilized 5 specialized vehicles and 34 officers and soldiers to the scene. Functional forces deployed a plan to dismantle part of the roof to approach the fire.
After about 20 minutes, the fire was completely controlled.
According to the gold shop owner, the initial cause was determined to be an old laptop placed on a mattress in a private bedroom that had a short circuit, exploded and caused a fire.
The incident did not cause any casualties, and the property affected was insignificant.
