On this occasion, as the election day for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term is approaching, special voters at Ha Nam Social Protection Center facility 1 (Nguyen Uy ward, Ninh Binh province) are also ready to vote.
According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, the atmosphere in the leprosy camp area became more bustling. People here regularly chat and exchange with each other about information related to elections, candidate lists... Especially, for leprosy patients, holding a ballot with their own hands is not only an exercise of citizenship but also a moment to affirm that they are still recognized by society and attached to the community.

Living in the leprosarium for decades, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - shared: "Although my health is no longer good, every time there are elections, I participate. We are here but are still citizens of the country. Each ballot is a way for us to express our wishes and hopes for a better life.
Not only Mr. Tho, many elderly people in the leprosarium are over 80 years old, their legs and arms are no longer intact, and their movements have also become slow due to the sequelae of the disease, but on election day they are still waiting to fulfill their civic duty.
According to a representative of the Ha Nam Social Protection Center, facility 1, to create favorable conditions for these "special" voters to participate in voting, the election teams have arranged auxiliary ballot boxes to be brought to the place. Center staff and election service forces are also assigned specific tasks, from receiving ballots, folding ballots to voting in accordance with regulations. Everyone is ready to help everyone feel secure in exercising their civil rights.
At Ha Nam Social Protection Center, facility 1, in recent years, many charity groups from all over have come to visit and encourage. Not only bringing material gifts, they also send sharing, sincere greetings and warm handshakes. That concern has added motivation, helping people who have suffered from leprosy to better understand the closeness and humanity from the community.
