On the afternoon of August 31, Bui Thi K.L (13 years old) - a student at Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School - followed her friends to go play on a flooded road in the middle of the field near the headquarters of the People's Committee of Nam Thai commune (old). While playing, he slipped and fell and sank into the water.
People said that after nearly an hour of searching, L's body was recovered, but he did not survive.
According to local authorities, L's circumstances are very difficult. I am the second child in the family, my 15-year-old brother is mentally disabled. Her parents are divorced, and the two are living with their grandparents in Hong Minh hamlet, Nam Dan commune.

The family and the authorities are taking care of L's funeral in her hometown. The incident once again rang the bell warning of the risk of drowning in children, especially in rural areas that are often flooded.
Recently, floods have caused the Lam River to rise, causing severe flooding in the downstream area. The local government has advised people to be cautious and pay attention to safety during floods.
