The My Thuy intersection project is a strategic intersection at the gateway to Cat Lai, Thu Duc City - where the density of freight transport vehicles is the highest in Ho Chi Minh City.
The project officially started in 2016, including two component projects: Construction with a cost of 1,826 billion VND and compensation and site clearance with more than 1,623 billion VND.
However, after nearly a decade of construction, the entire project has only reached about 30% of the volume. Some completed items include: Ky Ha 3 bridge, overpass on Ring Road 2, left underpass from Ring Road 2 to Cat Lai and My Thuy 3 bridge.
However, most of the remaining packages are stalled or are being constructed slowly due to lack of land.
The construction package of branches on the left bank of My Thuy canal is currently suspended, only reaching 15% of the volume. The My Thuy canal right bank branch road package has been 50% completed but has been forced to stop because the site has not been handed over to the public.
The construction package for Ky Ha 4 bridge and the branch from Phu My bridge to Cat Lai has started since April 2024 but is still stopped after completing part of the bridge foundation, due to lack of land for the remaining part.

Some packages starting construction in 2025, such as the left turn overpass from Cat Lai to Phu My bridge ( begun on January 18), Ky Ha 3 bridge (right branch) and the overpass on Ring Road 2 (right branch) both started construction on March 14, are under construction of bored piles and bridge foundations, but the progress is also threatened if site clearance continues to be delayed.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), the construction progress is currently heavily dependent on site clearance, which is the responsibility of the Thu Duc City People's Committee.
Component project 2 - compensation and site clearance has been implemented by Thu Duc City since 2016, with a total capital of about 1,190 billion VND.
By the end of April 2025, only 134/195 cases had their site handed over, accounting for about 69%.

The Traffic Department recommends that Thu Duc City People's Committee urgently hand over the entire remaining site before May 30, 2025, to ensure the goal of completing the entire project by April 2026.
The Thu Duc City People's Committee said that the main reason for the delay was land disputes, border encroachments, complaints, administrative litigations or people had not agreed because they had not been arranged a suitable resettlement plot.
Thu Duc City said it is removing obstacles to complete compensation and site clearance in the second quarter of this year.
