On May 30, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province announced that it had approved a plan to salvage sunken assets for the Thanh Hung 06 ship that ran aground in Bai Thong Beach Area, Vinh Truong Village, Phuoc Dinh Commune, Thuan Nam District.
It is expected that after the locality approves the plan and implements it within 45 days for participating vehicles including cranes, bulldozers and trucks.
Before the salvage, the Thanh Hung 06 ship was no longer have FO oil, oil, water mixed with oil in the water extractor basement.
According to the approved plan, the salvage and demolition of the ship will be carried out at the time of low tide to ensure that the ship is not in the water area affecting the sea area.
The dismantling unit will bring machinery, mechanical equipment, human resources, ... from the shore position to the ship position to survey and evaluate the current status of the beach. After that, the plan will be set to move so as not to affect the surrounding marine ecosystem and ship demolition area.
To ensure that the waste arising from the ship demolition process is not affected, the demolition unit will build a dike system around the ship and a harness system, gathering hazardous waste and generated waste.
Thanh Hung 06 ship is owned by Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hanh. Therefore, the ship's steel after being demolished should be moved ashore and brought to the assembly area according to regulations. The cost of dismantling and salvage units will be done by the owner.
The locality will send staff to be on duty to ensure assets and guide vehicles to move to and from the gathering area safely.
The Thanh Hung 06 ship, owned by Thanh Hung Real Estate Trading Company Limited, has a displacement of 4,563 tons from Ho Chi Minh City.
On February 26, 2023, Thanh Hung 06 ship sailed from Nhon Trach/Dong Nai port to Cam Ranh/Khanh Hoa port. When the ship reached Bai Thong area, it had a problem with the steering wheel loss. The weather at that time was big waves, strong winds (about level 7, level 8), so the boat drifted and ran aground on the coast.
Thanh Hung Real Estate Trading Company Limited (vehicle owner) has sent representatives to coordinate with the locality and functional forces to discuss the rescue plan to pull the Thanh Hung 06 ship out of the stranded location.
However, after having a plan, the cost of rescuing the ship from the stranded location was large, combined with the loss of Thanh Hung Real Estate Trading Company Limited, unable to pay the rescue costs.
In March 2025, visitors who came to take souvenir photos at Thanh Hung 06 ship will notice signs of cracking on one side of the ship.
