HCMC - Ba Dat Bridge and Giong Ong To 2 Bridge, part of the An Phu Intersection Project (Thu Duc City), with a total investment of more than VND3,400 billion, will be completed before Lunar New Year 2025.

On December 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that after 2 years of construction (started at the end of 2022), the An Phu intersection project has now reached more than 60% of the total volume.

Of which, Ba Dat bridge and Giong Ong To 2 bridge are the first two items to be completed (before Lunar New Year 2025) to relieve traffic pressure in the area.

Ba Dat Bridge, located on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, has a construction value of nearly 185 billion VND. The bridge consists of three units, built between two existing bridges with a total length of about 474 m.

Giong Ong To 2 Bridge, connecting Mai Chi Tho Street with Dong Van Cong Street, has a construction value of nearly 380 billion VND. The project consists of two units, located between two existing bridges on the same route.

In addition to Ba Dat Bridge and Giong Ong To 2, contractors are focusing on constructing a two-way underpass connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Street (760 m long, 4 lanes) and an underpass at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection (480 m long, 4 lanes).

Five overpasses in the area are also being implemented, including: Bridge N3 and N4 at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection; Bridge N2 turns right from Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to Mai Chi Tho; Bridge N1.1 and N1.3 turns left from Mai Chi Tho to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.

As for branch N1.2, from Luong Dinh Cua street to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, it cannot be implemented yet due to problems in site clearance.

The 22,000 m² land area that needs to be reclaimed to construct the N1.2 branch of the An Phu Urban Development Project (88.03 ha), invested by Thu Thiem Real Estate Joint Stock Company. This is also the area of the Luong Dinh Cua Street expansion project, a project that has been stalled for more than 9 years due to similar land acquisition issues.

This area involves 64 households, but the compensation process has not been carried out yet because there is no agreement on which unit is responsible.

To resolve the difficulties, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City has proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee report to the Prime Minister on adjusting the land area down by 22,000 m².

At the same time, the Traffic Department was assigned to add 10,054 m² to the compensation plan of An Phu intersection to carry out compensation and resettlement support work according to regulations.

Thu Thiem Real Estate Joint Stock Company and related units will have to repay this compensation and continue to invest in completing technical infrastructure according to regulations.

Thu Duc City People's Committee is also required to review and renovate the remaining area, about 11,958 m², to develop residential areas.

However, these proposals have not yet been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The investor has requested the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to soon give its opinion to speed up the project's progress.

When completed, An Phu intersection will not only help reduce congestion at one of the biggest traffic hotspots in Ho Chi Minh City but also increase transportation capacity to seaports and Long Thanh airport.
