Maintaining quality, expanding the market
In the journey to enhance the value of agricultural products and typical products of Ho Chi Minh City, many businesses have constantly innovated, invested in research to create high-quality products, meet domestic market demand and aim for export.
According to Ms. Dien Ngoc Tuyet - Director of Song Thanh Production, Trade and Service Company Limited, the owner of Moc Dan black garlic juice, the product achieving 4 stars of OCOP is a source of pride and a clear demonstration of the quality that the enterprise has worked hard to build.
"We clearly define the strategy of maintaining quality, constantly improving and researching new product lines from black garlic combined with herbs" - Ms. Tuyet shared. According to her, the next goal of the business is to expand the distribution system to supermarkets, pharmacies, e-commerce channels and especially access international markets.
Similarly, the herbal pork product Sagri Food of Nam Phong Food Processing Enterprise (under Saigon Livestock and Food Processing Company) also achieved 4-star OCOP certification. Mr. Pham Duy Phuong - Director of the Enterprise - said that this is the result of a long process of research, learning and applying modern technology.
"We have sent staff abroad to study. Based on a closed livestock platform, proactively source safe food, the products created not only ensure food quality and safety, but also help enhance prestige in the market - Mr. Phuong emphasized.
According to him, OCOP certification is not only a factor to affirm the brand but also creates a competitive advantage, opening up opportunities to participate in fairs and trade promotion activities at home and abroad.
OCOP creates momentum for urban agricultural development
In the field of ornamental plants, Mr. Phan Thanh Tam - Director of Tan Thanh Tam Vietnam Company - said that the Betta ornamental fish developed by his farm has been recognized as achieving a 3-star OCOP, meeting export standards.
Since being classified as OCOP, our business operations have been more stable, and we have received a lot of support from authorities, Mr. Tam shared.
This is a worthy recognition for the farm's investment and creativity in this typical fish family.
In the coming time, the enterprise plans to expand production scale, develop new Betta fish lines, meet market demand and maintain stable supply.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, from 2019 to now, the city has gradually implemented the "Each commune, one product" (OCOP) program widely. By June 2025, 419 OCOP products of 155 entities had been recognized, of which 312 products achieved 3 stars and 107 products achieved 4 stars. However, the city still does not have a 5-star OCOP product recognized by the Central Government.
OCOP products of Ho Chi Minh City are currently not only limited to agricultural products or handicrafts, but have been expanded to food groups, beverages, medicinal herbs, community tourism services and tourist destinations - Mr. Dung informed.
However, Mr. Dung also frankly acknowledged that Ho Chi Minh City's OCOP products are still not commensurate with the potential. In the context of Ho Chi Minh City merging with some neighboring localities such as Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, this will be a favorable time for the city to promote the advantage of regional linkages, while expanding production scale, upgrading product quality towards national and international 5-star standards.
