On the afternoon of February 22, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that currently, the traffic volume on the Phap Van - Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway, the section from Km230 towards Km211 has increased, vehicles move slowly.
To reduce overload and ensure smooth traffic, Team 3 of the Traffic Police Department organized traffic diversion for vehicles going in the opposite direction (according to the direction of the traffic police force) from Km216 to Km211 to create favorable conditions for vehicles to travel to Hanoi.
Along with that, the Traffic Police Department recommends traffic participants:
Strictly comply with the orders and instructions of functional forces; Slow down, pay attention to observation when entering the traffic diversion area; Keep a safe distance, absolutely do not voluntarily turn around or change lanes in violation of regulations.
Previously, late at night on February 21, representatives of the Traffic Police Department said that the traffic volume returning to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on new expressways reached 56,516 (44.42%) vehicles entering; and about 708,828 (55.57%) are expected to continue moving on February 22.
Accordingly, the Traffic Police Department plans to organize traffic lane separation according to the direction depending on the time when the number of vehicles pouring into Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City increases, the risk of prolonged congestion will temporarily ban the direction of the road out of the city to prioritize roads for vehicles entering the city.
During the 9 days of Lunar New Year holiday, the Traffic Police Department recorded a total traffic volume of vehicles from local roads entering expressways managed by the Department of 5,265,082 turns (compared to the same period in 2025, an increase of 749,598 turns);
Total traffic volume from expressways to local roads is 5,378,710 turns (compared to the same period in 2025, an increase of 777,433 turns); on average, there are 585,009 turns of vehicles entering the expressway per day (an increase of 83,289 turns, +16.6%), there are 597,634 turns of vehicles exiting the expressway (an increase of 86,381 turns, +16.9%).

Noi Bai - Lao Cai: Number of entrances to expressways increased by 26,713 (+38.97%), exits to expressways increased by 197,370 (+36.5%).
Phap Van - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Highway 45 - Nghi Son: Number of entry to the expressway increased by 22,646 turns (+14.25%), exit to the expressway increased by 216,382 turns (++13.44%).
Nghi Son - Dien Chau - Bai Vot - Ham Nghi - Bung - Vung Ang - Cam Lo: Number of entrances to the expressway increased by 76,715 (+38.71%), exits to the expressway increased by 76,722 (+38.71%).
