On September 11, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province announced that it had issued a decision to administratively fine Mr. Le Van Huong (residing in Hoai An commune) VND 90 million for trading in 100 tons of pork of unknown origin.
Previously, on August 7, Market Management Team No. 1 (Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department) discovered that Mr. Huong's business household had suspicious signs, so it coordinated with the Provincial Police to conduct a surprise inspection of this establishment.

Through inspection, the authorities discovered 100 tons of frozen pork that had changed color and gave off a foul smell, including dairy pork and roast pork, with a total value of more than 18 billion VND.
At the time of inspection, Mr. Huong presented a business registration certificate and a certificate of food safety eligibility issued by the old Binh Dinh Province Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, which are still valid.
Mr. Huong's family buys pigs from many sources, process them into plastic bags and then put them in cold storage, waiting for African swine fever to gradually sell on the market.
All of the above pork had no documents proving their origin, no traceability book; the packaging also had no information about the origin. Some pigs have signs of developing spots in their ears, tails, legs, abdomen, and chest, accompanied by changing colors and giving off a foul smell.
To prevent the risk of spreading the disease, the authorities have agreed to destroy all of the above pork. Through verification, there were no signs of criminality in the incident.
