On August 4, Dam Rong 1 Commune Police (Lam Dong province) said that the unit had just coordinated with forest rangers to receive a rare Java pangolin individual handed over by people and re-released to the natural environment.
Previously, while traveling through Trung Tam village, Dam Rong 1 commune, Mr. Nguyen Pham Huynh Phap discovered a wild animal crossing the road.
Realizing that this is a rare animal that needs to be protected, he safely arrested it and took it to the commune police for handover.
Through inspection, functional forces determined that this is a Java pangolin weighing about 2kg, belonging to group IB - endangered, precious, and rare forest animal species prioritized for protection, strictly prohibited from exploitation, hunting, trading and consumption.
After receiving them, the Forest Protection force coordinated with Dam Rong 1 Commune Police to check their health and complete the procedures according to regulations before releasing the pangolin individual back into the natural environment.
According to Dam Rong 1 Commune Police, people proactively handing over rare and precious wild animals to functional agencies is a beautiful act, contributing to protecting biodiversity and raising community awareness in wildlife conservation work.
