Quang Tri - The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Tri province has destroyed thousands of ducks infected with avian influenza A/H5N1.

On April 9, information from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Quang Tri province said that through inspection and testing, avian influenza A/H5N1 virus was discovered in the duck flock of a household in Hai Quy commune (Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province).

On April 3, after receiving information from Mr. Doan Cuong's household in Tram Ly village (Hai Quy commune) about the dead ducks, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine coordinated with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Hai Lang district to conduct an inspection and take samples of the disease and send them to the Department of Animal Health Region III for testing.

On April 6, test results showed the presence of the A/H5N1 virus in a sample taken from Mr. Cuong's duck flock.
