Bomb longer than 1 meter found in residential area

    Quang Tri - The Engineering Force has disposed of a bomb over 1 meter long discovered during the construction of an electric pole system.

    On October 19, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command said that the unit's engineering force had just removed a dangerous bomb.

    Previously, during the construction of an electric pole system in Mai Xa village (Gio Mai commune, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province), a large bomb was discovered.

    Upon receiving the information, the Engineering Force of the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command arrived at the scene. After identifying the bomb with the symbol MK81, the units protected the scene and asked people living around the area to evacuate to a safe place.

    The Engineering Force dug, brought the bomb to the surface and successfully moved the bomb to the assembly area, preparing for destruction.

    It is known that the MK8 bomb weighs 250 pounds (113kg), is 1.1m long, and has a diameter of 23cm. This type of bomb is left over from the war.
